Jordan- Public school teachers continue strike for second day
Public school teachers Monday pressed on with a nationwide strike for the second day in a row, heeding a call by their syndicate to stage an open stoppage to demand a wage hike.
State-run schools across the Kingdom were deserted as students boycotted classes, except for a few who showed up before the early morning lineup, but left shortly as teachers refused to head to classrooms in answer to a call by the Jordan Teachers Association.
Parents said they will not send their sons and daughters to schools as teachers began the strike on Sunday demanding a salary raise, which they alleged the government promised five years ago but failed to deliver.
