Iraqi parliament asks government to end presence of foreign forces in Iraq
Iraqi Parliament on Sunday January 5th passed a non-binding resolution urging the government to end the presence of foreign troops in Iraq, days after the US coalition killed top Iranian general, Qassem Soleimani, in drone attacks, Reuters reported.
Adil Abd al-Mahdi, the caretaker prime minister, also on Sunday in a speech in parliament, said the parliament should work on ending the presence of foreign troops in Iraq as soon as possible despite “internal and external difficulties that may face us.”
The parliament urged the government to cancel its request for assistance from the global coalition tasked with fighting Isis in Iraq after victory over the terrorist group was achieved in December 2017.
