On Saturday, the spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Hafez, voiced his surprise at the statements of some Turkish officials about the legitimacy of the Libyan and local authorities ’request for armed Egyptian support to combat terrorism in the country.
In a statement, he added that Libya is facing the terrorism and extremism that Turkey brought to it from Syria after its spread across the Turkish-Syrian border and in various parts of the Arab region.
The spokesman was also surprised by the Turkish administration’s adventure of the capabilities of the Turkish people through interference and involvement in the crises of the Arab countries.
A spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry expressed Egypt’s rejection of Turkish political and military interference in Arab affairs. The interference lacks any legal basis and even violates Security Council resolutions, whether in Iraq, Syria, or Libya.
Turkey further deepens and complicates Arab crises to achieve the interests of certain political currents and not for the benefit of its people, but significantly depends on an ideology that wastes the resources of the Turkish people.
He affirmed that the Arab people rejected the efforts or aspirations of those who want to achieve interests and goals unrelated to them.
Turkey backs the GNA in its fight and has been accused of sending thousands of mercenaries and militants to Libya to fight.
Egypt and Libya efforts against Turkish Interference
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has received, Thursday, the Sheikhs, and the tribal figures of Libya representing the Libyan people throughout the country, according to the Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
He noted that President Sisi reiterated that the Egyptian endeavors at all levels only aim at activating the free will of the Libyan people for a better future to the state of Libya and to the coming generations.
“The meeting was held under the slogan of ‘Egypt and Libya… one people and one destiny’,” added Rady.
The delegation of Libyan tribes loyal to eastern forces arrived in Cairo on Wednesday to discuss developments in the war-torn country, a few days after the eastern-based Libyan parliament asked Egypt to directly intervene if necessary in light of what it described as a Turkish “aggression.”
