Tunisian President Qais Said affirmed, on Saturday, during a press conference with the President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Manfi, his country’s support for the transitional phase in Libya and the rebuilding of state institutions.
For his part, the head of the Libyan Presidency Council, Muhammad Al-Manfi, said: «We appreciate Tunisia’s support for the Libyan people at this stage», Pointing to that search «With the Tunisian side, security cooperation at this delicate stage».
The exile confirmed that «The rise of Libya is linked to Tunisia and vice versa».
The head of the Libyan Presidency Council, Mohamed Al-Manfi, began a three-day official visit to Tunisia, during which he will hold talks with Tunisian President Qais Saeed and senior officials, on bilateral relations, regional issues and the steps of the political track in Libya.
Last March, the Tunisian president visited the Libyan capital, Tripoli, which also received Tunisian Prime Minister Hisham El-Mechichi last week for a visit that resulted in a series of economic agreements. Within the framework of that visit, Mechichi announced his decision to lift all restrictions imposed on appropriations upon entry of goods across land borders, and stressed Tunisia’s commitment to putting in place all measures to ensure the liberalization of commercial exchanges and the liberation of the movement of people and capital.
The visit of the exile to Tunisia comes at a time when the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum failed to reach consensus on the constitutional basis on which the next elections will be held, after two days of discussions that were dominated by disputes, accusations and skepticism, and with them the chances of delaying or canceling this election entitlement, which is This threatens to undermine the political transition that the United Nations is running.
At the end of 2020, Tunisia hosted delegates who met under the auspices of the United Nations within the framework of the Forum for Political Dialogue that led to the formation of the new transitional government in Libya.
