Hypersonic missiles … Russia uses “Kinzal” missile to strikes Ukrainian facilities”
Russia's Ministry of Defense announced today that it used a hypersonic missile "Kinzal" to destroy a massive storage of missiles and aircraft ammunition underground in the Ivano-Frankiusk region of southwestern Ukraine.
Telling about the use of Kinzal may be an attempt to prop up the home front’s image of the modern power of the Russian armed forces.
Hypersonic means advancing at a speed of at least five times the speed of sound, or more than 6,000 kilometers per hour.
Russia has used its Kersonal missiles in Ukraine, the Russian Ministry of Defense said on Saturday, according to Russian news agency Interfax.
Russia says it fired on Kinzal missiles on Friday.
“The Kinžal missile system, equipped with hypersonic aeroball missiles, destroyed a large underground depot with missiles and ammunition in the village of Deljatyn in the Ivano-Frankivsk region,” the defense ministry told our reporters.
There is no information provided or independent of the Ukrainian authorities on the possible missile strike on Deljatyn.
Russia has invested heavily in the development of its missile arsenal in recent years, and the President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly boasted of hypersonic weapons.
Hypersonic Avangard warheads have been on display more often than in Kinshasa.
Putin first introduced Kinzali in 2018. In his Christmas speech the following year, he praised that no other country yet has hypersonic weapons.
“We are now in an exceptional situation during our new and recent history: we are being reached,” Putin said then.
Russian in addition, China and the United States have a hypersonic weapons program that is likely to lag behind in the development of these weapons.
U.S. military leaders have repeatedly expressed concern, especially over China’s lead.
“We are not as far ahead of the Russians or the Chinese in hypersonic weapons programs,” General David Thompson stated last November.
The overall use of hypersonic missiles does not change this overall picture, although they are considerably more difficult to combat than traditional cruise missiles.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 and has since destroyed numerous targets and killed hundreds or thousands of people with traditional cruise missiles.
Telling about the use of Kinshal may be an attempt to prop up the home front’s image of the modern power of the Russian armed forces. Russian troops have suffered great hardship in the war of aggression, although it is uncertain what the Russian public knows about the obstruction of hostilities.
Kizal or “Dagger” is an air-to-ground missile.
“After launch, Kinzal accelerates rapidly to 4 Mach (4,900 km / h) and could reach up to 10 Mach (12,350 km / h),” a U.S. research institute said. CSIS writes in its review.
According to the CSIS, Kinžal can carry a load of 480 kilograms up to a maximum of 2,000 kilometers.
