Benzema Hopes To Break Ronaldo’s Records In The Champions League Final

Karim Benzema has set his eyes on breaking a few more records when he leads Real Madrid to face Liverpool in the Champions League final.

Benzema has been beyond phenomenal this season, bagging 44 goals across all competitions.

He has already secured the La Liga title and the top scorer award in Spain.

He will now be aiming to overtake Cristiano Ronaldo as the top scorer in one season of the Champions League when he faces Liverpool.

Ronaldo scored 17 goals in the 2013-2014 season.

Benzema is already on 15 and should he get a hat trick against Liverpool, then he will eclipse the record set by Ronaldo.

The French striker has already grabbed hat tricks against Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea in the previous rounds of the competition. Speaking to UEFA’s official website as quoted by Goal.com, Benzema stated that, Records will always exist, and they are there to be broken.

For me, what matters the most is to give it my all on the pitch to help my team win; if I can score or assist goals, that’s important, but the most important thing is to step on the pitch and win the game.

My favourite goal this season? They’re all good and important. The most beautiful is maybe the third goal against PSG or the penalty against Manchester City, but the header against Chelsea was good too because it was a beautiful play.

Another record that Benzema will be chasing will be the opportunity to draw level with some players that have won five Champions League titles. Benzema at the moment has four and victory against Liverpool will take him level with the likes of Paolo Maldini, Ronaldo, Jose Maria Zarraga and Alfredo Di Stefano.
