Zakharova: Blinken is making up stories about the isolation of Russia and its representative at the G20 summit

The Head of department Maria Zakharova stated that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is making up stories about the isolation of Russia and its representative, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, at the G20 summit.

“It is you, Mr. Blinken, who drove you to isolate yourself by browsing through a series of forum events that most do not remember. And now you are making up stories to justify your own failure,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to Zakharova, Blinken is known to “personally ask everyone to isolate Russia,” but she only “laughs from behind” because “the current administration is doomed to a dishonorable end.”

G20 foreign ministers met on the Indonesian island of Bali on Friday. According to media reports, the delegates did not hold a ceremony to photograph the attendees, largely due to the location of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who did not want to attend the event with Lavrov.

Commenting on the situation to RIA Novosti, Zakharova said Lavrov “had some contacts and did not notice the absence of ministers boycotting the event”.
