Violent scenes marred England’s opening game at the European Championship for some fans who travelled to Germany to cheer on the Three Lions.

Seven Serbians were arrested after a brawl broke out with England supporters at a bar in central Gelsenkirchen, which left at least two people injured.

About five hours before kick-off, more than 20 men, some in hoods and with England flags on their shirts, were videoed “rushing” rival fans as they drank at the Hirt Steakhouse restaurant.

Glass bottles were hurled through the air and smashed on the ground, and tables and chairs were brandished as weapons.
