Reformist Candidate Pezeshkian Wins Iranian Presidential Election

The Iranian Ministry of Interior announced the victory of candidate Masoud Pezeshkian in the Iranian presidential elections runoff, following the completion of vote counting in tens of thousands of polling stations across the country.

According to the official figures from the Ministry, Pezeshkian received 16,384,403 votes, compared to 13,538,179 votes for conservative candidate Saeed Jalili, thus becoming the ninth elected president of the Islamic Republic of Iran since the victory of the Islamic Revolution led by Imam Khomeini in 1979.

Earlier, our correspondent reported that the voter turnout in the second round of the Iranian presidential elections reached 49.6%.

Masoud Pezeshkian has garnered support from the reformist coalition across its various factions since the early stages of the elections. Meanwhile, the conservative current was initially divided into several streams due to the multitude of candidates, especially between Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who ranked third in the first round, and Jalili.
