Day 289 of Israeli Aggression on Gaza: 38,983 Martyred, 89,727 Injured

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced in its daily report Saturday that the number of Palestinians killed in Gaza due to the Israeli genocidal war ongoing since October 7 has now reached 38,983, in addition to 89,727 injuries.

Additionally, it confirmed that Israeli occupation forces committed four massacres in 24 hours only, killing 64 people and injuring 105 others.

The Ministry stressed that thousands of victims are still under the rubble on the streets as the occupation forces continue to prohibit ambulances and civil defense crews from reaching them. 

Meanwhile, the Government Media Office in Gaza announced the martyrdom of Moatasem Mahmoud Ghorab, who had been working as a journalist for several years with several media outlets.

With Ghorab’s martyrdom as the Israeli occupation bombed his house in the al-Nusairat camp, in central Gaza, the number of journalists killed since the start of the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip has risen to 162, both males and females. 

The Israeli genocide is ongoing

The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip has not ceased for the 289th consecutive day since the occupation launched its onslaught on the besieged strip, resulting in tens of martyrs and injuries, as well as extensive damages following a series of airstrikes and artillery shelling targeting several areas. 

In a related development, Al Mayadeen’s correspondent reported that the number of martyrs in Khan Younis has risen to 14 due to Israeli strikes in recent hours.

Additionally, “Israel” bombed several areas where forcibly displaced families were sheltering, resulting in multiple casualties, as per our correspondent.
 
On this issue, independent experts have lately emphasized that Israeli attacks on civilians represent serious breaches of international humanitarian law. They urged that such attacks be promptly and thoroughly investigated and that those responsible be held accountable and face severe penalties.

“The wilful or indiscriminate killing of protected persons, including civilians, medical personnel, and humanitarian workers, amount to war crimes, and if systematic, crimes against humanity, and should be prevented at all costs,” the experts cautioned.

“We remain deeply troubled by the total impunity and apparent lack of investigations, and prevention of these crimes. This is all the more worrisome in the context of the recent order from the International Court of Justice for Israel to take immediate measures to protect Gaza’s population from the risk of genocide,” they said.

They also reiterated their demands for an immediate ceasefire and serious breaches of international human rights and humanitarian law.

Furthermore, the experts called on the Israeli government to permit independent experts, including international human rights monitoring groups, to enter Gaza. This access is crucial for a credible investigation into all violations of international law that have occurred since the start of the Israeli military operation, as per the experts.
