Kremlin Says No Further Mobilization Planned
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov (pictured) denied on Saturday that the Russian government is planning a new round of mobilization to replenish its troops. “There is no talk of mobilization at all,” he told Ria Novosti.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also signed a decree in late March requiring another 150,000 people to complete military service.
Rumors about a possible mobilization appeared in the media following the presidential election in March. Since then, the government adopted measures to boost voluntary enlistment, including offering signing bonuses for new recruits.
