Liverpool star Salah could make shock move next summer
Arne Slot will take charge of his first Liverpool match at Anfield on Sunday when the Reds host Brentford.
The Merseyside outfit defeated newly-promoted Ipswich Town 2-0 on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season, and the Dutchman will hope to see his side make it two wins from two when they face the Bees.
Liverpool are the only English top flight side that haven’t yet made a single signing during the current transfer window, but Slot may yet still delve into the market to bolster his squad before the window closes at the end of August.
In the meantime, though, talisman Mohamed Salah is being linked with a sensational return to one of his former clubs.
A report from The Athletic claims that the Egyptian is keen to stay put in England after he departs Anfield, and he could therefore be tempted by a return to Stamford Bridge.
The forward joined Liverpool from Italian side Roma in 2017, just a year after joining the Serie A side permanently from Chelsea.
Since moving to Merseyside, he has scored a remarkable 212 goals in 350 games, as well as registering 90 assists.
Despite his importance to Liverpool, the 32-year-old is currently in the final year of his contract and faces an extremely uncertain future.
Salah has been the subject of offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia over the past 18 months, but Liverpool have stood firm and rejected the bids.
Despite this, the report suggests that Salah is likely to depart Anfield when his deal expires next summer, and Chelsea could be one of his potential destinations.
Salah scored during Liverpool’s win over the Tractor Boys last weekend, and he will hope to add to his tally for the club when they face the Bees on Sunday afternoon.
