Dozens of Martyrs in an Israeli Massacre in Mawasi Khan Younis that Targeted 20 Tents for the Displaced
Several Palestinian civilians, including children and women, were killed in a brutal Israeli bombardment of the tents of the displaced in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.
The Civil Defense in Gaza said, “65 displaced persons were rescued, including martyrs and wounded, in the Mawasi Khan Yunis massacre, and rescue operations are ongoing.”
It said in a statement, “The Israeli raids targeted a gathering of at least 20 tents in a populated area in the Al-Mawasi area in Khan Yunis, leaving behind 3 large craters. The missiles used were heavy concussion missiles.”
He stated, “A number of martyrs were buried in the ground, and the ambulance and civil defense crews are facing great difficulty in retrieving the martyrs, amidst the lack of capabilities and the absence of a source of light,” noting, “There is great panic among the residents of the surrounding area after they were asleep and believed that they were safe.”
The Civil Defense said, “The incident is very difficult and estimates suggest that we are facing one of the most heinous massacres in this raging war,” noting that “the occupation has become emboldened to commit such massacres in light of the complete silence of the world’s institutions about its previous crimes.”
Paramedics said that 14 martyrs and dozens of wounded arrived at Nasser Hospital as a result of the Israeli bombing. They confirmed that “rescue workers are facing difficulty in retrieving the martyrs and wounded from under the sand as a result of the bombing.”
In a related context, five Palestinian citizens, including two women and a child, were killed in an Israeli bombardment that targeted a residential apartment belonging to the “Labad” family in the Al-Ghafri Junction area, west of Gaza City, according to what the Civil Defense in Gaza announced on Monday night, Tuesday. The raid had completely destroyed the apartment, amid the escalation of the Israeli aggression on various areas of the Strip.
This military escalation comes within the framework of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, which has so far resulted in the martyrdom of 40,988 people, the majority of whom are children and women, in addition to the injury of 94,825 others. Meanwhile, ambulance and civil defense teams are still experiencing difficulties in reaching many of the victims trapped under the rubble or scattered in the streets due to the ongoing military operations.
Earlier on Monday evening, the Civil Defense announced the martyrdom of five other citizens and the injury of a number of people as a result of an Israeli bombardment that targeted a residential apartment in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood, next to the Jordanian Hospital in Gaza City. The bombardment also targeted another house near the Al-Tabi’in Sharia School north of the city, while the occupation forces destroyed residential buildings in the Al-Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of the city, according to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA).
