Israel Killed 2,141, Injured 10,099 in Lebanon; Paramedics Targeted

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that the toll of martyrs from the Israeli aggression on Lebanon has reached 2,141, with 10,099 injured, since October 8, 2023.

A statement from the Public Health Emergency Operations Center, affiliated with the Lebanese Ministry of Health, detailed the casualties from Tuesday’s Israeli occupation aggressions across various Lebanese regions.

The report outlined the number of deaths and injuries as follows:

  • South Lebanon: 12 people martyred, 37 injured
  • Bekaa region: 7 people martyred, 3 injured
  • Baalbek-Hermel region: 1 martyred, 2 injured
  • Mount Lebanon: 4 injured

The Emergency Operations Center further noted that a total of 22 people have been killed by Israeli airstrikes while 80 others have been injured, in yesterday’s toll.

As the night sets in, Israeli occupation forces continue their attacks on Lebanon, focusing on the Southern Suburb of Beirut, the South, Bekaa, and Baalbek-Hermel regions.

In its latest attacks, the Israeli occupation airforce, according to our correspondent, targeted the town of Shebaa, causing the closure of the Shebaa-Janam-Rashaya-Ayn Ata road. Another airstrike struck the town of Habboush in South Lebanon.

Earlier today, the correspondent also reported that 6 people were killed and 25 were injured when an Israeli occupation airstrike hit a shelter managed by the Ministry of Social Affairs in the town of al-Wardaniya, located in the Iqlim Al-Kharroub area of Chouf in Mount Lebanon.

‘Israel’ has a bullseye set on medics, civil defense

The Union of Municipalities of Bint Jbeil in South Lebanon announced that the bodies of several firefighters from its rescue center in the town of Baraachit remain trapped under the rubble after an Israeli occupation airstrike hit the center last Sunday night.

The center urged immediate intervention to recover the bodies of the remaining crew members, who were martyred as a result of the Israeli strike, with the estimated number of missing medics being 20 rescuers, out of which only 8 bodies have been retrieved so far.

The union also appealed to the international community and humanitarian organizations to intervene and “halt the continued targeting of humanitarian workers by the Israeli occupation.”

In addition to the firefighters at Baraachit, several other rescuers remain trapped under rubble at other locations targeted by Israeli airstrikes. Efforts to recover them have been hindered by ongoing bombardments and the targeting of those attempting to reach the sites.

Two weeks ago, Israeli forces targeted the Islamic Health Association teams in the southern border towns of Taybeh and Odaisseh, subsequently targeting other teams that attempted to assist them. The bodies of the martyred rescuers remain trapped in their vehicles and bases in these towns.

The Israeli occupation continues to target civil defense and ambulance centers and the Islamic Health Association across different regions while on duty, including in the capital, Beirut.

In a related development, the Lebanese Civil Defense received an Israeli threat on Thursday, October 3, 2024, warning them against approaching targeted areas, particularly the Southern Suburb of Beirut, which experienced the heaviest airstrikes since the escalation of attacks on September 23, 2024. The threat included warnings of targeting anyone who attempted to approach the bombed sites in the suburbs to aid victims.

These attacks are not new to the current aggression. Since October 8, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces have deliberately targeted civil defense and ambulance centers, as well as personnel and equipment.

This warning followed earlier calls on September 26, 2024, urging civil defense personnel across Lebanon to evacuate their posts, aiming to spread panic and disrupt relief efforts.
