Israel Resumes Aggression on Syria, Advances Toward Damascus

The latest Israeli strikes on Syria targeted research and development centers and radars in the country.

Israeli warplanes launched an attack targeting the Scientific Research Center and Defense Factories in the al-Safira area, in Aleppo’s southern countryside, in northern Syria

Another wave of strikes targeted a Syrian radar battalion in al-Ruhaybah, in Damascus’ countryside, on Saturday overnight.

Israeli airstrikes were also launched in areas around the Syrian capital, the countryside of al-Suwayda, and the Syrian Scientific Research and Defense Factories in Masyaf, in Hamas’ countryside.

On Friday evening, a series of strikes targeted the Syrian Army headquarters and military depots in the countryside of Latakia and Tartous, while another set of airstrikes targeted the outskirts of Damascus and the Qalamoun mountains.

This comes after the Israeli military command had announced that it destroyed the vast majority of the Syrian air defense array, which includes highly-prized Pantsir and Buk batteries. According to the command, this has awarded the Israeli Air Force air superiority in Syrian air space, allowing it to carry out operations safely in the future.

The aerial assault coincided with a ground incursion, where mechanized Israeli occupation forces advanced and occupied the buffer zone east of the Golan Heights and expanded their advance into the countryside of Damascus.

Moreover, the Israeli aggression also targeted the assets of the Syrian Navy, including anti-ship missiles and vessels. Syrian strategic weaponry, including fighter jets, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles was also destroyed.

These unprovoked attacks aim to dismantle Syrian military capabilities, as the country goes through a regime change, following the ousting of President Bashar al-Assad on December 8.
