Assad vows to confront all forms of aggression from Turkey
Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad told Iraq’s National Security Adviser Falih Al-Fayyad on Thursday that Syria is prepared to confront all forms of Turkish aggression on its soil, even if that means a military confrontation.
The Syrian President accused Turkey of waging a criminal campaign in Syria that was geared at overthrowing his government.
President Assad slammed the Turkish operation as a “clear invasion and aggression against Syria”, while adding that the Syrian military has already struck the Turkish regime’s agents and militants inside the country.
In addition to their discussion about Turkey, President Assad and the Iraqi official vowed increase bilateral ties and improve border security/
For his part, Fayyad stressed that the two countries should continue their joint work at various levels to achieve the interests of Iraq and Syria, and achieve security and peace for both countries.
The meeting was also attended by the Syrian ambassador to Iraq, Sattam al-Dandah.
