At Least 120 Bodies Found in Jabalia After IOF Withdrawal

Palestinian rescue teams have discovered an additional 50 bodies amid the rubble of the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, following the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces. This brings the total number of bodies recovered to over 120, as search efforts persist for those still missing.

The ongoing recovery operations highlighted the tragic toll of “Israel’s” relentless bombardment, as per Wafa news agency. Meanwhile,  medical sources at Kamal Adwan Hospital confirmed the retrieval of more than 120 bodies, emphasizing the extensive efforts underway since the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the area.

After a 20-day concentrated offensive involving around 200 airstrikes, Israeli occupation forces announced their withdrawal from the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza on Friday.

At the time, Palestinian authorities reported that the offensive destroyed 70% of Jabalia, Gaza’s largest refugee camp, housing over 100,000 Palestinians.

Returning Palestinians described the area as “unrecognizable” due to the extensive destruction caused by the Israeli aggression, as reported by various news outlets.

On his part, Philippe Lazzarini, head of the UN’s Palestine refugee agency, shared “horrific” images of the Jabalia refugee camp, expressing dismay over the level of devastation inflicted by the Israeli aggression.

Skulls, burned bodies, beheaded children among horrors in Jabalia

Following the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip, Gaza’s Civil Defense spokesperson, Major Mahmoud Basal, provided last Friday a sobering account of the widespread devastation and uncovered horrors they left behind.

Basal reported that the majority of residences in Jabalia camp were completely demolished, leaving families without shelter. He added that the infrastructure within Jabalia camp suffered severe damage, with essential facilities such as roads, water supply systems, and electricity networks almost destroyed, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the area.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he mentioned that the heart of commercial activities in Jabalia camp, its central market, lay in ruins, disrupting essential trade and access to goods for the local population.

Furthermore, the main generators at the Kamal Adwan Hospital, a vital medical facility in northern Gaza, were completely obliterated, compromising the ability to provide crucial medical services to the injured and ill, as per Basal.

He also detailed that the fifth floor of the Al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza was heavily damaged, posing significant challenges to patient care and treatment amid the ongoing genocide.

As Palestinians begin to return to their hometown of Jabalia, they are met with scenes of utter destruction, with virtually nothing left standing and trails of massacres everywhere.

Concurrently, shocking images have circulated widely on social media, revealing the grim aftermath of Israeli forces’ 20-day assault on the Jabalia refugee camp. Skeletal remains, burned bodies, and reports of beheaded children have surfaced, painting a harrowing picture of the devastation left in the wake of the Israeli invasion.
