Biden: “Zelensky Did Not Listen To Our Warnings”
US President Biden has accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of “not wanting to listen” when the US intelligence service gathered information that Russia was preparing for an invasion of the neighboring country.
It was during a political event in Los Angeles that Biden gave a speech in which he expressed the accusation against the President of Ukraine.
Biden said he knew “many people thought he was exaggerating” when he spoke before the war about reports revealing that Russia’s Vladimir Putin “would cross the border”.
– I know that many thought that I might be exaggerating. But I knew we had grounds to claim that he (Russian President Vladimir Putin) would go in, and cross the border, Biden said, adding:
– But Zelensky did not want to take it.
Rejected warnings: “do not panic”
During the weeks leading up to the war, which began on February 24, Zelensky must have been angry when officials near Biden repeatedly warned that a Russian invasion in the near future was highly likely.
At this time, Zelensky is said to have been concerned about how the sound of war drums affected the country’s fragile economist, according to TT.
A few weeks before the war broke out, Biden and Zelensky had a telephone conversation in which Biden himself warned of an invasion in the near future, the Daily Mail reported in January.
After the conversation, Zelensky rejected Biden’s and other world leaders’ warnings, saying “we do not need this panic.”
