By Day 344 of Israeli Genocide in Gaza: 41,182 Martyred, 95,280 Injured
The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza announces that the number of martyrs is increasing exponentially in light of the aggressive Israeli bombardment of the Strip.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Wednesday, the 344th day of the ongoing Israeli genocidal war on the Strip, that the number of martyrs has risen to 41,182, with 95,280 others wounded.
In the past 48 hours, the Israeli occupation committed four massacres against families in Gaza, killing 64 Palestinians and injuring 155 others.
Meanwhile, other casualties remain under the rubble and on the streets, with the occupation forces preventing the search and rescue missions of the ambulance and civil defense teams, it concluded.
Overnight airstrikes claim tens of lives
An Israeli airstrike early Saturday morning claimed the lives of 11 members of a single family, including three women and four children, according to Gaza’s Civil Defense agency. The agency’s spokesperson, Mahmoud Bassal, reported that the attack hit the house of the Bustan family in the al-Tuffah neighborhood of eastern Gaza City.
“We have recovered the bodies of 11 martyrs, including four children and three women,” Bassal told AFP, specifying that the strike occurred near the Shujaiya school. He further noted that rescuers were continuing their efforts to locate those still missing beneath the rubble.
The deadly assault was part of a broader series of overnight airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, Bassal added. At least 10 other people were killed in separate incidents.
Five were killed when an airstrike hit a group of people near Dar al-Arqam School in northwestern Gaza City, and three more died in the southern Khan Younis governorate’s al-Mawasi area, where many displaced Palestinians have taken refuge.
Moreover, a Saturday airstrike struck the Husni al-Masdar Mosque east of the al-Maghazi camp in central Gaza.
Paramedic abducted, killed in December
Meanwhile, Gaza’s Ministry of Health announced the confirmed death of paramedic Hamdan Abu Annaba, who was detained by Israeli forces in December while on duty at the Nasser Medical Complex. He was detained on December 2, 2023, and was killed that same day as the information received by the Ministry confirmed.
“We appeal to all international and human rights bodies to reveal the fate of dozens of healthcare workers who were kidnapped from hospitals while carrying out their humanitarian duty,” the Ministry stated, urging for international intervention.
Only little aid getting in
“We estimate that over a million Gazans will go without food in September,” Sam Rose, a senior deputy director of the UN’s relief agency for Palestinians (UNRWA) in Gaza, told The Guardian.
On Tuesday, the World Food Programme (WFP) warned that 2.2 million Palestinians in Gaza are still in “urgent” need of food help after 11 months of Israeli brutal aggression.
Affirming that medicines, chlorine for water purification, and hygiene products are running low in Gaza, he affirmed that “so little aid is getting in that we can’t meet basic needs.”
According to WFP statistics, 96% of Gaza’s population is facing severe food insecurity, with 2.15 million people experiencing crisis levels of hunger or worse, as the Israeli occupation continues to use famine as a weapon of war.
The global institution further warned that almost half a million people in Gaza are in “catastrophic conditions”.
It stated that in order to make a breakthrough and avert famine, significant and sustained amounts of humanitarian assistance are required, emphasizing the significance of “law and order” in delivering an effective humanitarian response to rising demands.
In a situation update offered by UNRWA as of September 12, UNRWA confirmed that six of its staff were killed in the school hit in Nuseirat on September 11.
This brings the total number of UNRWA staff killed in Gaza since the war began to at least 220.
Moreover, the agency confirmed that at the end of the first round of the polio vaccination campaign, over 560,000 children were vaccinated across the Gaza Strip.
