Cristiano Ronaldo says Glazers ‘do not care’ about Man Utd – and he never speaks to them
Cristiano Ronaldo's criticism of Manchester United has continued in his tell-all interview with Piers Morgan - and the 37-year-old has slammed the Glazer family
Cristiano Ronaldo has slammed Manchester United’s billionaire owners, the Glazer family, and claimed he never speaks to them.
Ronaldo has accused the Glazer family of not caring about the Red Devils in his explosive interview with Piers Morgan. Speaking to Morgan, Ronaldo said: “The owners of the club, they don’t care about the club. As you know Manchester is a marketing club.
“They will get money from the marketing and they don’t really care about the sport, in my opinion.” Ronaldo then went onto reveal he hasn’t spoke to the Glazer’s – who took over the Red Devils in 2005, when Ronaldo was a youngster at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo continued: “Never [has he spoke to the Glazer’s], they give all the power to the president and the sporting directors.”
Morgan then moved the conversation towards the fanbase’s criticism of the Glazer’s in recent seasons – especially after the European Super League. Ronaldo continued: “The fans are always right. I think the fans should know the truth, they should know that the players want the best for the club.
“I want the best for the club, this why I came to Manchester United, this is why I love this club. But you have somethings inside of the club that don’t help Manchester reach the top level.”
United fans have launched several protests in the direction of the Glazers since the European Super League in April 2021.
Ahead of their match against Liverpool, the first home game after the announcement, United fans stormed Old Trafford and the clash had to be postponed. In the resulting months, walkouts have also been organised during United games.
The Glazer’s wrote an open letter to the fans following the protests, it read: “We also realise that we need to better communicate with you, our fans, because you will always be at the heart of the club.
“In the background, you can be sure that we will be taking the necessary steps to rebuild relationships with other stakeholders across the game, with a view to working together on solutions to the long-term challenges facing the football pyramid.”
However, Ronaldo has now claimed that it’s the internal structure of the club that is stopping the Red Devils from reaching the levels of Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool.
