David Moyes: West Ham fans should forgive Zuma
West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma has been left out of his club’s squad against Leicester City in the Premier League with a stomach problem, while coach David Moyes has asked fans to forgive the Frenchman after suffering a crisis after violently handling a cat.
Zuma was in the starting line-up for West Ham, despite protests and anger against him after he appeared in a video violently dealing with a cat. And the care of my cats, the French defender, passed to the Animal Welfare Society (RSBCA). The player later apologized for his behavior.
“He was sick before the match,” Moyes told Sky Sports. He wanted to play, and we wanted him to play too. He was sick last night, stayed away from the players and didn’t eat much.
He added: When he came, he didn’t think he could play. We have informed Issa Diop to be ready. It’s a stomach problem, and it’s likely due to the food he ate.
Adidas terminated its partnership with Zuma, while Moyes’ decision to select the player for the squad immediately after the incident caused Vitality Insurance and Investments to suspend its sponsorship of the club.
Moyes, who admits to a love of animals, defended his decision to field the player with West Ham in the unusual position of vying to finish the season in the top four after years of appearing mid-table.
Moyes said: “It was a mistake, and there are coaches who deal with players who made mistakes. One needs to feel forgiven, and one has already made an apology.
West Ham occupies fourth place with 41 points and plays in the next round against Newcastle United, who won their last three matches.
