Day 136: 29,092 Killed, 69,028 Injured in Gaza
The Israeli occupation forces continue to turn the Nasser Medical Complex into a military base, putting the lives of Palestinian civilians and medical staff at risk.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported today, Monday, that the Israeli occupation committed 9 massacres against Palestinian families in 24 hours, killing 107 martyrs and wounding 145 people.
This brings the total number of Palestinians killed due to the Israeli aggression on the Strip since October 7, 2023, to 29,092, in addition to 69,028 injuries.
The Ministry further pointed out that thousands remain trapped under the rubble, and presumed dead, and bodies are scattered on the roads, while the occupation prevents any ambulance and civil defense crews from reaching them.
Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces continue to transform the Nasser Medical Complex into a military base, putting the lives of patients and medical staff at risk.
There are 25 medical staff and 136 patients who are currently deprived of essential amenities such as electricity, water, food, oxygen, and the capacity to treat critical cases.
The Israeli occupation continues to hinder the delivery of medical and humanitarian aid to the Nasser Medical Complex. However, the Israeli occupation remains obstinate in supplying medical aid and fuel to hospitals in northern Gaza.
In the same context, the World Health Organization is actively working to evacuate the remaining patients to other hospitals for continued treatment.
Nasser Hospital in Gaza out of service
World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated on Sunday that Nasser Hospital in Gaza, the second largest hospital in Gaza, is no longer functional due to a week-long siege by Israeli forces followed by relentless bombings.
Despite attempts by the WHO team to assess patient conditions and critical medical needs, they were denied entry to the hospital compound for two consecutive days, he added.
Ghebreyesus affirmed that approximately 200 patients remain in the hospital, with at least 20 requiring urgent referral to other healthcare facilities, emphasizing the patient’s right to medical referral.
IOF transformed Nasser into a ‘military base’
Earlier this week, in a recent development, Israeli occupation forces reportedly entered the premises of the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, opening fire in its medical departments and urging the injured to evacuate. Al Mayadeen’s correspondent in the Gaza Strip highlighted the pressure on injured individuals to evacuate the area.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza also verified that Israeli forces targeted the orthopedic department within the premises of Nasser Medical Complex, resulting in the death of one of the injured and injuries sustained by several patients.
Moreover, the ministry reported an incident of damage to an oxygen tube in the Nasser Complex, leading to oxygen leakage. The ministry added that the mentioned leakage resulted in a decrease in oxygen pressure in the medical complex, especially in the intensive care unit, endangering patients due to the Israeli targeting of the complex.
