Egypt holds meetings with Fatah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Cairo
Egypt hosted a tripartite Palestinian meeting that brought together the leader of the reformist Fatah Movement, Samir Al-Masharawi, Hamas leaders and Jihad movement leaders in their residence.
The two delegations were led by Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ziyad al-Nakhala, Secretary General of Islamic Jihad, and a large number of the leadership of the two movements.
Fatah leader, Samir Al-Masharawi, said that the meeting was patriotic, dominated by a positive spirit, and full awareness of the need to achieve an inclusive national unity that includes the national whole, and the need for Palestinian reunification.
Al-Masharawi added, in a press statement, that it was confirmed that all energies were mobilized to confront the brutal occupation, and face its crimes and dirty plans that target our people, our cause, our sanctities, and our national identity.
Al-Masharawi added that the factions praised the role of Egypt and it’s support for the Palestinian cause and its rights.
In the context, Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of Hamas, and the delegation of the movement’s leadership in Cairo met on Sunday with Ziyad al-Nakhala, Secretary General of the Islamic Jihad Movement, and a number of the Jihad movement’s leaders from inside and outside the country.
Hamas said, in a press statement, on Monday: “The two sides discussed various national issues in light of the Zionist attacks on our people in Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa Mosque and the occupied West Bank, and the violations that prisoners are subjected to.”
They also discussed ways to strengthen and consolidate the strategic relationship between the two movements and develop it to serve the resistance and the various issues of our people
The conferees stressed that the Palestinian people will continue to choose the resistance, which represents the only option for our people in the face of occupation and aggression.
The two parties discussed the rapid political developments the region is going through and how to employ them to serve our people and our cause. They also stressed the importance of Egypt’s role in supporting our people and their just cause. according to the text of the statement.
