Egypt: Mass Graves at Gaza Hospital a ‘Shameful’ Violation of Int’l Law
Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the mass graves with over 200 bodies uncovered at the Nasser Medical Complex in Gaza’s Khan Younis over the past three days, describing the discovery as “regrettable” and “shameful.”
“It is regrettable and shameful that violations of international law and humanitarian values continue in such a flagrant manner in the 21st century, in full view and hearing of all countries, international organizations, and the Security Council,” said Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesperson of Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Monday.
Over 210 bodies of Palestinians, including patients reportedly killed by Israeli forces as they stormed the medical complex, have been recovered so far since Saturday.
Ambassador Abu Zeid condemned the repeated Israeli violations of international law and humanitarian law in Gaza, including the targeting of civilians, displaced persons, and medical teams.
He reiterated the urgent need for international intervention to stop these violations and to conduct necessary investigations to hold perpetrators accountable.
He called for an immediate halt to the violence and attacks by settlers, protected by Israeli forces, against Palestinian civilians, their property, and homes in the West Bank.
The spokesperson further added that the recent killings, destruction, and violence in the West Bank are equally alarming and dangerous, exacerbating the crisis and threatening to escalate tensions across all occupied Palestinian territories.
