Egypt regrets Sudan’s reservations about the Arab decision regarding the Renaissance Dam
Counselor Ahmed Hafez, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed his regret for what was stated in the statement issued by the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, March 8, regarding Sudan’s reservation to the Arab decision on the Renaissance Dam.
“Hafez” stressed in this regard that Egypt has notified the permanent representative of Sudan to the League of Arab States on the draft resolution since the first day of March at 17:11, and has received confirmation that the text has been received; and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been keen during the following days to continue communication with the Sudan side I would like to receive any comments, which was not answered.
The official spokesman added that the Egyptian delegation had responded to Sudan’s request to remove its name from the draft resolution, but the subsequent amendments proposed by Sudan came to empty the text of its content and weaken the effect of the decision. Also, the decision issued by the Arab Ministerial Meeting included only solidarity with Egypt’s water rights, an affirmation of the rules of international law, and an invitation to sign the prepared agreement.
