Egypt Warns of Israeli Escalation Threatening All-out War After Lebanon Attacks

Egypt has strongly denounced the “unjustified” Israeli escalation following intensive airstrikes on southern Lebanon, expressing grave concerns about the potential outbreak of a region-wide conflict that could have devastating consequences for the entire region.

“This unjustified Israeli escalation places the region at a dangerous crossroads, potentially leading to catastrophic repercussions on regional stability and the onset of a comprehensive regional war that no country in the region will be immune to its consequences,” the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Egypt reiterated its condemnation of unilateral actions, targeting on civilians, and violations of international humanitarian law, demonstrating unwavering solidarity with Lebanon in the face of the Israeli strikes that undermine Lebanese sovereignty.

Furthermore, Egypt emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the West Bank, recognizing violence in these areas as the primary cause of tensions and escalation in the region.

The Israeli army has conducted multiple airstrikes across southern Lebanon and claimed to have targeted 110 sites in the early hours of Sunday.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah announced today that it targeted an Israeli military industries complex in northern Haifa with dozens of rockets, in an initial response to the detonations of paging and wireless devices through an Israeli intelligence operation last week.

A statement by the party indicated that it struck military industries complexes of Rafael company specialized in electronic devices and equipment, located in Haifa, with dozens of Katyusha and never-before-revealed Fadi rockets.

Moreover, Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for launching multiple rockets towards Israel’s Ramat David Airbase located east of Haifa, in retaliation for a series of Israeli strikes, including numerous strikes in southern Lebanon over the past days.

Hezbollah’s Sunday attack can be the farthest-reaching assault within Israel since the outset of the ongoing cross-border conflicts between Israel and Hezbollah in October of the previous year with the onset of the Gaza war.

Sirens blared across northern Israel early on Sunday, signaling a state of emergency, a few days after Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah vowed retaliation on Israel due to the pagers and radios explosions that killed dozens.

The Israeli military reported that more than 100 projectiles were fired from Lebanon on Sunday, forcing hundreds of thousands to seek shelter and leading to the closure of schools in northern Israel.
