Four Arab countries participating in the joint military exercise, called “Saif Al Arab”

“Saif Al Arab” is one of the main military exercises in the Arab region and aims to promote cooperation and joint military action between the Egyptian armed forces and the armed forces of other Arab countries using advanced weapons and equipment. 

According to the official news agency of the Emirates, WAM, the exercise began this Tuesday and will continue until November 26th at the Mohamed Naguib Military Base and other areas of the northern military region.

This is one of the main exercises held in the Arab region and is aimed at promoting cooperation and joint military action between the Egyptian armed forces and those of other Arab countries using advanced weapons and equipment.  

The first phases of the exercise will include the holding of a coordination conference between the participating countries to unify concepts, exchange training experience and deploy the participating units, in addition to organizing various theoretical and practical conferences. 

Over the past few days, units and teams from the UAE, Bahrain and Sudan have arrived via air bases and seaports in which Saudi Arabia will participate as an observer. 

The Mediterranean is becoming the scene of a maritime Cold War and the Emirates have a presence in the area. In addition to the exercises with Egypt, it also took part in other manoeuvres recently with Greece. The naval air exercises of Greece, Cyprus, Italy and France have increased during the summer owing to the threat of Turkey. And now the United Arab Emirates, which already had a military presence in Greece, is stepping up its support for future missions. 

Since the joint exercises in early September, both Greece and the United Arab Emirates have stated that they wish to strengthen their bilateral cooperation, particularly in the Mediterranean defense area.
