Global 195 Coalition Launched to Pursue Suspects of Israeli War Crimes

The International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) has announced the launch of Global 195, a worldwide legal coalition aimed at holding Israeli and dual-national soldiers accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

The coalition will reportedly utilize international and domestic legal systems to pursue individuals suspected of involvement in the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza.

In a statement on its X account, ICJP said its initiative builds a global network focused on ensuring that suspected war criminals are prosecuted, regardless of their location. The coalition will reportedly work across multiple jurisdictions to apply for private arrest warrants and initiate legal action against those implicated.

Global 195 will target individuals involved in the Israeli military and political officials, from senior policymakers to field operatives, who are believed to be responsible for violations of international law, as per the statement.

Countries participating in the project include Malaysia, Turkiye, Norway, Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the United Kingdom.

The coalition has already begun preparations in the UK to pursue legal actions against British citizens suspected of joining the Israeli occupation forces or committing war crimes in Gaza and the West Bank, including east of occupied al-Quds.

Evidence includes 135 eyewitness testimonies of war crimes

ICJP has formed a coalition of legal practitioners from more than six countries, aiming to establish legal teams worldwide. The evidence used by the coalition has been gathered over the past 18 months as part of the Justice for Gaza investigation, which meets the standards required by international criminal courts.

The evidence includes 135 first-hand eyewitness testimonies, supported by open-source intelligence (OSINT), and covers various areas of Gaza, the statement added.

Investigative findings reveal a pattern of systematic violations, including indiscriminate bombing, targeting of vital infrastructure, attacks on “safe zones” and refugee camps, and the use of starvation as a weapon of war.

ICJP Director Tayab Ali emphasized the urgency of legal action, highlighting the failure of international institutions and state actors to prosecute those responsible for the ongoing war on Gaza. He stressed the need for civil society to step in where states have failed, ensuring that those responsible for war crimes are held accountable.

Widespread support for Global 195 Initiative

Huseyin Disli, Vice President of the Worldwide Lawyers Association (WOLAS), voiced support for Global 195, urging a coordinated legal effort to dismantle Israeli impunity and calling for broader structural change. He emphasized the importance of a comprehensive and strategic legal approach to combat Zionist violence and colonization.

Legal professionals from Malaysia also expressed support, with Awang Armadajaya bin Awang Mahmud of Messrs. Hasshahari & Partners urging the Malaysian government to escalate legal and diplomatic efforts to investigate and prosecute Israeli war criminals. He also encouraged local legal professionals to join the cause under the Malaysian Lawyers for Palestine initiative.

Other international organizations, such as ICJ Norway and Defend International Law, joined in, calling for impartial investigations of the alleged war crimes in Gaza, stressing the need for independent legal action in third countries with extraterritorial jurisdiction.

The Global 195 coalition marks a significant step in the international legal movement for justice in Gaza, as the world continues to demand accountability for the atrocities committed during the ongoing Israeli genocide.
