Hamas Chief Haniyeh’s Funeral Procession Held in Tehran
Iranian leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei leads the funeral prayers of Hamas Political Bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in a solemn ceremony to commemorate the martyred leader.
In a solemn ceremony at Tehran University on Thursday, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, led funeral prayers for Hamas Political Bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh and his security guard, Wasim Abu Shaaban, both assassinated by “Israel” during Haniyeh’s visit to Tehran.
A large number of Iranian mourners gathered to pay their respects and participate in the funeral procession for the fallen Hamas leader and his bodyguard.
Haniyeh had been in Tehran to attend the inauguration of Iran’s newly-elected President, Masoud Pezeshkian, along with other prominent figures from the Axis of Resistance.
Ghalibaf: Era of ‘Israel’s’ unchallenged attacks has ended
During the ceremony, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf addressed the mourners, condemning the Israeli regime for its actions. He asserted that the Israeli occupation’s persistent crimes stem from its inability to counter the capabilities of the Resistance effectively.
Ghalibaf warned that any further aggression by the Israeli occupation would be a strategic error, emphasizing that the era of unchallenged attacks by the Israeli occupation and its ally, the United States, has ended.
He assured that Iran would respond appropriately at a time and place of its choosing and that the Israeli occupation would face severe consequences for its actions.
Al-Hayya: Haniyeh’s martyrdom to further unify Islamic World
During the funeral procession, Khalil al-Hayya, Hamas’ foreign affairs chief, delivered a speech emphasizing that Haniyeh’s martyrdom would further the unity of the Islamic World and the Resistance in the struggle for the liberation of Palestine.
He further noted that Haniyeh had ascended as a martyr, saying that the assassination had incited outrage against the Zionist entity from the whole of the Islamic World, the Axis of Resistance, and freedom-loving people worldwide.
Al-Hayya reiterated Haniyeh’s enduring motto, “We will not recognize Israel,” vowing to continue the pursuit of the Israeli occupation until its removal from their land.
Sayyed Khamenei: Severe response for Haniyeh’s assassination
On Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei issued a stern warning to the Israeli regime, promising a severe response to the assassination of Haniyeh. He stated that it was Iran’s duty to avenge the blood of the Palestinian resistance leader, describing the assassination as a criminal act that demands retribution.
“The criminal and terrorist Zionist regime martyred our dear guest in our homeland and left us bereaved, but it also set the ground for a harsh punishment for itself,” Ayatollah Khamenei declared.
Speaking about the martyred leader, Sayyed Khamenei said Haniyeh dedicated his life to the struggle [for liberation], was ready for martyrdom, and sacrificed his children on this path, noting that the “great Resistance Front is in mourning.”
Consequently, Iran announced a three-day mourning period.
