Hamas Loses Contact With Edan Alexander’s Captors After Israeli Airstrike

Al-Qassam Brigades say an Israeli strike may have killed the group holding dual-national Israeli-American soldier Edan Alexander, as pressure mounts to end the Gaza war and retrieve hostages.

The spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Abu Obeida, announced today, Tuesday, that the movement has lost contact with the group holding Israeli-American soldier Edan Alexander after a direct Israeli strike targeted their location. He noted that the movement is still trying to reach them as of now.

Abu Obeida added in a statement on Telegram:“Our assessment is that the Israeli army is deliberately trying to rid itself of the pressure of the dual-nationality prisoner file in order to continue its genocide war against our people.”

On Saturday evening, the Al-Qassam Brigades released a video showing Edan Alexander sending sharp messages to the Israeli government and the U.S. administration. He expressed deep disappointment over unfulfilled promises of his release and revealed that an Israeli airstrike hit very close to his location.

Alexander: “Everyone Lied to Me—Israel, the U.S., and the Army”

Alexander said in the video:“Every day, I see Netanyahu [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu] controlling the country like a dictator.”

He added that he felt betrayed by all parties:“Everyone lied to me—my people, the Israeli government, the U.S. administration, and the army.”

He also revealed that he learned three weeks ago that Hamas was ready to release him, but the Israeli government rejected the proposal.

Captive to Trump: “Why Am I a Victim of Netanyahu’s Lies?”

The captive addressed U.S. President Donald Trump, saying:“I believed that you would succeed in getting me out of here alive,”

then questioned:“Why did I become a victim of Netanyahu’s lies?”

He concluded with hope:“I want to believe that this won’t be the last time you see me alive in this recording. I want to return safely.”

He also referred to the ongoing protests inside Israel, saying:“Every day I see Israeli citizens protesting and doing everything they can, but the world does not hear them.”

Meanwhile, signatures continue to gather on petitions from various Israeli entities—including reservists from multiple units—calling for an end to the war on Gaza and the return of Israeli captives held in the Strip. The Israeli army has attempted to manage these reservists, many of whom it had previously threatened with dismissal.

These petitions, widely circulated, have become something of a trend, but lack significant weight or escalation in tone against the government or military. In fact, those signed by military and security personnel affirm that they are not acts of disobedience, and that they will comply when summoned. Others originate from civilians unaffiliated with the army.
