Jordan summons Israeli ambassador after citizens detained
Jordan has summoned the Israeli ambassador after two Jordanians were detained after crossing into the West Bank.
Abdulrahman Marei and Hiba Abdulbaqi were arrested after crossing the King Hussein Bridge, also known as the Allenby Bridge, that connects to the Israeli occupied Palestinian territory.
Jordan’s foreign ministry said Tuesday that it is using every diplomatic, political, and legal means to secure their release.
“The ministry also requested more details about the arrests and the charges leveled against the two, and demanded that their legal rights be protected, he added,” spokesman Sufian Qudah said.
