Jurgen Klopp, 57, ‘ready’ to take exciting new management job

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly “ready” to take over at Real Madrid with Carlo Ancelotti expected to leave the Bernabeu at the end of April.

The former Liverpool manager is allegedly “unhappy” in his new role as Red Bull’s Global Head of Football, despite only taking up the position a few months after departing Anfield last May.

According to Spanish outlet UOL Esporte, Klopp is open to discussions with Madrid, with the intention of returning to coaching as early as July.

Ancelotti is set to walk away from Los Blancos after the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona on April 26 in order to become manager of Brazil.

The Italian boss cast doubt over his future following Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final defeat to Arsenal, where Real Madrid lost 2-1 at home and 5-1 on aggregate.

“Maybe the club decides to replace me and maybe it could be this year, or next year when my contract is over,” Ancelotti said after the defeat.

“But when I am done here, I will be grateful to this club. That could be tomorrow, 10 days, one month or in one year, but if my contract ends or doesn’t end, I really don’t care.”

He added: “We have managed the bright side many times and we have won titles, but we need to manage the dark side too.”

“We need to accept it because over the two games, Arsenal have been better than us.”

Real Madrid and Barcelona are currently battling for the domestic double, with Ancelotti’s side sitting four points behind their rivals in LaLiga with seven games remaining.

The two giants meet in El Clasico on May 11, but the Italian is not expected to be in charge for the match at the Nou Camp.

Ancelotti rejoined Real in summer 2021 and has enjoyed remarkable success during his second stint, winning 11 trophies including two LaLiga titles, two Champions Leagues and the Club World Cup.

The prospect of Klopp taking over has excited officials at the Bernabeu, with club president Florentino Perez reportedly ready to go “all out” for a charismatic coach.

Interestingly, the German was considered as a potential managerial candidate a few years ago, but Perez did not approve at the time.

Klopp’s contract with Red Bull includes a special clause that could allow him to cut short his commitment and return to coaching.

Should he be approached by the German national team, Klopp would be permitted to quit his job at Red Bull immediately.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss has been in his current role for less than a year.

PADuring his illustrious nine-year tenure at Liverpool, Klopp managed nearly 500 games and secured an impressive trophy haul including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and two Carabao Cups.

Should he make the move to Madrid, Klopp could potentially be reunited with Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who reportedly agreed personal terms with the Spanish giants last month.

Ancelotti’s future has been the subject of speculation for some time, with the former Everton manager also linked with becoming Brazil’s national team coach.
