Erdogan destroyed Turkey’s foreign policy, poor economic conditions
Kemal Kilicdaroglu as said on Saturday that Turkey is experiencing a terrible political crisis due to Erdogan’s foreign policies as well as poor economic conditions as the country faces huge debts.
Kemal Kilicdaroglu, the leader of Turkey’s main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) accused Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of “destroying” the country’s foreign policy.
He stressed that the Turkish economy is in danger because of Erdogan’s alliance with Qatar, adding that the Turkish Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi (AKP) policy is destroying the Turkish state.
The leader of the Turkish opposition party made it clear that country’s crisis is going through is one of governance and democracy, in addition to the fact that the Turkish people live in an “era of subordination to the instructions of the Presidential Palace.”
Kilicdaroglu emphasized the need to amend the constitution to get rid of Erdogan’s policies that ruined the country.
On the other hand, Turkish opposition columnist Barakat Qar said freedom of the press has become completely nonexistent in Turkey, and Turkey is ranked second worldwide after China in terms of arresting journalists.
Qar stressed that the Turkish state during Erdogan’s rule has become “lowly,” due to the new Ottoman ambitions adopted by the president of Turkey, which are based on Turkish-Islamist concepts.
“Turkey has great ambitions in the whole region, as a result of the economic and social crises it is currently facing, and despite this matter, the Turkish authority continues to practice killings and repression against citizens,” he claimed.
The Turkish opposition pointed out that the Justice and Development Party in Turkey is the largest supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood in the Arab region, and is currently trying to restore its activity using political Islam, as most recently apparent in converting the Hagia Sophia Church to a mosque.
In May, the foreign ministers of Egypt, Cyprus, Greece, the UAE and France had condemned Turkey’s moves in the eastern Mediterranean and the memoranda of understanding between the Turkish government and the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) led by Fayez al-Sarraj.
In the joint statement, they expressed that the current illegal Turkish moves in the sovereign region of the Republic of Cyprus and its territorial waters are considered an explicit violation of international law, according to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
The statement added that this year, Turkey tried illegally drilling within Cyprus’s marine areas – something the five ministers denounced.
The statement condemned Turkish violations of Greek airspace as well as the systematic exploitation of civilians, who are forced to illegally cross Greek land and sea borders.
