Klopp announces two “news” about Salah
Klopp said that Salah was “frustrated” after losing the African Nations Cup final with Egypt, on Sunday, but he was “ready” to return to participation with Liverpool.
Salah lost the final of the tournament when he faced his club colleague Sadio Mane, who is still absent after returning to his country, Senegal, to celebrate the African title.
Senegal won the final 4-2 on penalties over Egypt in Yaounde, to win its first continental title, preventing the “Pharaohs” from consolidating their record and winning the eighth and first cup for Salah.
Salah returned to the training center in Liverpool, on Tuesday, and the medical team subjected him to evaluation before the match against Leicester City at the “Anfield” stadium.
In an interview with the club’s official website, Klopp said: “Mo (Salah) is back and I spoke to him. He is very disappointed, of course, but he is looking forward to all the things that await us here.”
“I spoke to him and the first words Mo said to me was ‘I’m ready.’
Klopp said that Mane is expected to return to Liverpool on Thursday, and therefore he will miss the match against Leicester City.
He explained that winning the cup “means everything to Mane, his people and Senegal. We respect that a lot, and we would not have called him from there, so let them do what they like in these moments because they deserve it.”
Liverpool is second in the league, 12 points away from leaders Manchester City, but has played two fewer games, while Leicester is twelfth place.
