Kremlin: Russian Has Nothing To Do With “Wagner” Group’s Activities In Africa

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the Russian state has nothing to do with the projects or activities of the Russian private military “Wagner” group in Africa

In response to a journalist’s question about whether the Russian Federation is ready to provide the “Wagner” group with financial or other support in light of the US sanctions, Peskov said: “The company had an independent activity there (Africa), and the state has nothing to do with this work

According to the Russian agency “Tass”, Peskov explained that “President Vladimir Putin spoke yesterday about very large sums that were allocated through the Ministry of Defense, and mentioned these numbers, but the company was carrying out its own business, which has nothing to do with the state

The US authorities explained this assessment that the private military company, “Wagner”, “finances its operations through the exploitation of natural resources in countries such as the Central African Republic and Mali
