Lebanese MFA: ‘Israel’ to be Held Accountable for Al-Rashid Massacre
The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges the establishment of an international investigative committee to hold the Israeli occupation accountable for the al-Rashid massacre.
The Lebanese Foreign Ministry condemned, in a statement on Friday, the deliberate killing of dozens of innocent Palestinian civilians and the injury of hundreds through the Israeli occupation forces’ targeting of humanitarian aid queues in the Gaza Strip.
The statement highlighted that this killing is part of a policy of starvation and collective extermination employed against the Palestinian people, fueling despair, worsening the situation, and undermining prospects for a just and comprehensive peace.
The statement called for “the establishment of an international commission of inquiry to determine responsibility and to prevent the party responsible for this crime from escaping accountability and punishment.”
The Foreign Ministry reiterated in the statement the importance of “adopting unified international standards to halt egregious violations of international humanitarian law in Gaza.”
This involves “taking firm international stances, requiring Israel, like others, to comply with international humanitarian law, allowing immediate and unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid, and ceasing fire to end this senseless war that increases extremism and hatred, resulting only in tragedies and woes, laying the groundwork for future wars and conflicts fueled by the plight of innocent civilians.”
The position of the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs comes as a response to the horrifying massacre committed by the Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian civilians who were awaiting aid on al-Rashid Street in the western part of Gaza City.
US vetoes UNSC statement blaming IOF for Gaza’s al-Rashid massacre
In continuation of its diplomatic cover for its biggest ally “Israel”, the United States blocked on Thursday a UN Security Council statement that would have condemned the massacre committed by Israeli occupation forces against Palestinians waiting in line for aid in al-Rashid Street west of Gaza City.
A field source from the Palestinian Resistance told our reporters that Israeli armored vehicles and tanks ran over the bodies of several martyrs, while others fired incendiary shells toward civilians in the area.
The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip condemned the Israeli massacre, saying 112 people were martyred and more than 750 wounded.
The IOF also arbitrarily detained hundreds of civilians in the same area, transferring them to an unknown location, the source mentioned.
