Legend Pele leaves the intensive care unit and reassures his fans

Brazilian football legend Pele has left the intensive care unit of the Sao Paulo Hospital, where he is being treated, after removing a colon tumor, according to a medical report published on Tuesday.

The Albert Einstein Hospital, where Pele was admitted last August 31, said: “Patient Edson Arantes do Nascimento is in good clinical condition and has left the intensive care unit. He will continue his recovery in a room.”

On Monday, Kelly Nascimento, the daughter of the three-time world champion (1958, 1962 and 1970), announced that her father was “ready” to leave the care unit, and she said through her account on “Instagram”, attached to a picture of her father, smiling, “He is recovering well from the operation. He does not suffer from pain.” “He’s in a good mood (just a little annoyed because he can’t help but eat jelly but he’s going to persevere!”) she joked.

And she added, “I’m ready to leave the intensive care unit and go home soon.”

“He is strong and tenacious and with the support and care of the brilliant Einstein team (at the hospital) and all the love, energy and light that the whole world is sending, he will overcome this ordeal!”

And the legend, Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known as Pele, revealed on social media on Monday before last, that he underwent surgery last Saturday, to remove a tumor in his colon, after he was admitted to the hospital six days ago.

Pele said through his official account on the “Instagram” website: “My friends, thank you very much for the nice messages. I thank God for feeling very well and for allowing Dr. Fabio and Dr. Miguel to take care of my health. Last Saturday, I underwent surgery to remove a suspicious lesion in the right colon. On the tumor during the tests she underwent last week.”

Pele denied reports that he had lost consciousness when he was transferred to Albert Einstein Hospital since August 31, in Sao Paulo.

It is noteworthy that Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known as Pele, is the only player in history to win the World Cup three times (1958, 1962 and 1970), and during his career he scored 1,281 goals in 1,363 matches, including 77 goals in 92 matches for the Brazilian national team, “Selecao”. And the International Olympic Committee chose him in 1999 as one of the best athletes of the twentieth century, and a year later he was named the best player of the same century by the International Football Association “FIFA”.
