Lionel Messi travels to Barcelona with his family… and 15 suitcases!
Lionel Messi’s possible return to Barcelona have once again been fuelled this weekend with the unexpected trip that the Argentine star has made with his family.
Messi, who has been enjoying a few days off from PSG since Saturday, has decided to travel with his wife Antonela Roccuzzo and their children to Barcelona, which has once again sparked all kinds of speculation about the future of the Argentine.
After playing and winning his Ligue 1 match with PSG against Angers, where he gave a masterful assist to Mbappe, Messi and his family surprised everyone by landing this Saturday at midday at Barcelona’s El Prat airport, as revealed by journalist Gerard Romero on his Twitch channel.
The PSG forward arrived accompanied by his closest circle and did so in an unusual way, hiding and without being seen by anyone. According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Messi was met by his lifelong bodyguard and advisor, Pepe Costa, who was in charge of waiting for him on his arrival in Barcelona.
In addition, and thanks to the information added by Gerard Romero, Messi landed in Barcelona with 15 suitcases, a circumstance that once again opens up any type of speculation regarding the future of the Argentinean.
The striker is taking advantage of the break in his professional commitments with Paris Saint-Germain to return to his home in Castelldefels and enjoy a few days of disconnection with his family. The Argentinian will not have to rejoin his team until next Tuesday.
A hint of a return to Barcelona?
This visit to Barcelona could be significant for the future of the Argentine, especially after the latest reports and rumours that he will return to the Catalan club next season.
Messi, whose PSG contract expires on June 30, is Barcelona’s main target this summer. However, for the moment, he is not keen to reveal anything about where he will play next season and is focusing on PSG.
According to El Mundo Deportivo, the player’s entourage have made it clear that his trip has nothing to do with his possible return to Barcelona.
This visit coincides with a special date in Barcelona, as it is Saint Jordi’s day, a very special day in the city, which is full of visitors, roses and book stalls.
