Majority of 162 Syrian Civilians Were Killed by New Regime Forces
A Syrian war monitor has found that the majority of civilians were executed by personnel affiliated with the Syrian Ministry of Defense and the Internal Security Force.

The vast majority of civilians killed across Syria on March 7 were executed by the forces of the new Syrian regime, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
Five massacres resulted in the deaths of 162 civilians across Syria’s coastal provinces, including women and children, the SOHR said.
The organization said that the actions mark “a dangerous escalation in ongoing violations against civilians.”
The majority of them were subject to summary executions carried out by personnel affiliated with the Syrian Ministry of Defense and the Internal Security Force.
Graphic footage was widely circulated on social media platforms, documenting egregious war crimes. Some videos documented the moment several unarmed Syrian citizens were shot dead by security forces, several of whom were also humiliated before being executed.

SOHR calls on international community to take action
The SOHR described the actions as grave human rights violations, calling on the international community to take immediate action by dispatching specialized investigative teams to document them.
Urging Syrian authorities to hold accountable the security and defense personnel involved in the executions, the Observatory warned that “impunity will only encourage the repetition of such crimes in the future, posing a serious threat to Syria’s political and societal stability in the post-Assad era.”
