Michel Platini detained over awarding 2022 World cup to Qatar

Former UEFA President Michel Platini has been detained by the French Police on Tuesday morning as part of an investigation into the curruption surroudning awarding Qatar to host the 2022 World Cup.The Anti-Corruption Office of the Judicial Police (OCLCIFF) has opened the investigation based on grounds of private corruption, influence peddling and criminal association to the World Cup.Platini has stepped down as the president of the UEFA in 2015 after he was banned from football for six years over corruption charges.
