President of the European Council: Johnson manipulates the future of Europe
“What’s at stake is not winning some stupid blame game,” Tusk wrote in a tweet to Johnson.
He added that: “At stake is the future of Europe and the UK as well as the security and interests of our people. You don’t want a deal, you don’t want an extension, you don’t want to revoke, where are you going?”
Johnson’s aides said talks with Brussels were “on the verge of failure” after German Chancellor Angela Merkel warned that a deal was “unlikely” without a concession from London.
The EU’s chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, is scheduled to put European Commission members on Wednesday in talks with London.
European Commission spokeswoman Mina Andreeva stressed that the Brussels is still “working for a deal” and technical talks are continuing.
The Europeans are concerned that Johnson is trying to hold them responsible for the failure of the talks and therefore Brexit without agreement.
