Putin: “Ukraine’s sponsors continue to use (Ukraine) and its people as a ‘tool’ in the confrontation with Russia
Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed, after talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, that Kiev will not allow the idea of a ceasefire so that the pretext for extending martial law does not disappear.
Putin noted that “Ukraine’s sponsors continue to try to use this country (Ukraine) and its people as a ‘tool’ in the confrontation with Russia,” stressing at the same time that the implementation of Russian peace initiatives will allow for a cessation of hostilities and the start of negotiations with Ukraine.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his accompanying delegation arrived in Moscow on Friday and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Orban described the Moscow visit as the next stage of the peace mission. Hungary holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union for 6 months starting on July 1.
Orban described his talks with the Russian president as “frank and honest,” and said regarding his mediation to stop the conflict in Ukraine that the positions of Moscow and Kiev are still “very far from each other,” expressing his determination to “continue working in this direction” to bring the end of the war closer.
