Ralf Rangnick breaks silence on Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford
Goal machine Cristiano Ronaldo was on target for Ralf Rangnick‘with Manchester United as the Red Devils outclassed Brentford in their recently concluded English Premier League (EPL) encounter at the Old Trafford on Monday. Goals from superstar Ronaldo, Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes and French defender Raphael Varane ensured the Red Devils return back to winning ways in what has been a season to forget for the Manchester United faithful.
Departing manager Rangnick, who is set to be replaced by Erik Ten Hag next season, opted to give starts to Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic on matchday 35 of the English top flight. Former Paris Saint Germain (PSG) star Edinson Cavani, who is also expected to leave Old Trafford, came off the bench for Manchester United on Monday. Mata, Matic and Cavani are likely to leave Manchester United following the end of the 2021-2022 season.
Man United superstar Ronaldo, who has been a standout performer for the Red Devils, is also in speculation about leaving Old Trafford after the Red Devils failed to win a single major trophy this season. Ronaldo’s celebration after Manchester United star netted his 24th goal of the season had sparked a debate about his future. Former Manchester United captain and England defender Gary Neville had opined that Ronaldo has told Manchester United fans that he will be staying at Old Trafford next season.
When asked about Ronaldo’s celebration after the hosts hammered Brentford 3-0 at home, Man United manager Rangnick also rubbished the rumors surrounding Ronaldo’s future. “I don’t think why it should be a wave of goodbye. He’s got another year of contract and as far as I know he will be here next season again,” Rangnick told Astro Stadium after the match.
