Sadio Mane reveals Cristiano Ronaldo advised him to leave Liverpool
Former Liverpool striker Sadio Mane has revealed Cristiano Ronaldo told him his move to Bayern Munich was a “big step”.
The Senegalese attacker said he met the 38-year-old Al Nassr superstar in Mallorca ahead of his debut season in the Bundesliga.
The 30-year-old Bayern Munich forward left Anfield in a £35.1million deal with the German club last summer.
Mane, who joined the Merseyside giants from Southampton in 2016 for £34m, has scored 11 goals in all competitions since joining Bayern.
In an interview with BILDSport, Mané said: “That says everything about the Bundesliga and underlines what I have already said: I think you underestimate the Bundesliga here.”

“Recent performances in the Champions League prove that,” he added.
“I met Cristiano Ronaldo in Mallorca before this season after my move was completed.
“He congratulated me and told me: ‘A great club. It’s a great move for you.”
Mane won six major trophies in six seasons on Merseyside, claimed all major club honors and scored 120 goals in 269 games for the club.
In his last season, Mane scored 23 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions during a season that also included his country’s Africa Cup of Nations victory.
His first trophy came in 2019 with the Champions League and a season later he won the Premier League.
By winning the League Cup and FA Cup that year, he completed his English trophy set while also being part of the side that won the 2019 UEFA Super Cup and 2019 FIFA Club World Cup.

Liverpool were initially reluctant to sell Mane, who was instrumental in Liverpool’s transformation under Jurgen Klopp.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo has moved to the Saudi side where he has signed a lucrative £175million-a-year deal.
Despite a slow start, the 38-year-old has woken up in recent weeks and has scored seven goals in his last three games.
He scored a hat-trick in his last game before half-time and scored all four goals in a stunning Al-Nassr win earlier this month.
