Security and Defense Committee in the Iraqi parliament revealed on Thursday the names of the two factions that were targeted yesterday by an air strike in Syria, accusing the American aviation of being behind the operation.
Committee member Karim Aliwi told Shafaq News that “the American aviation targeted yesterday the Popular Mobilization Forces, as well as some of the Iraqi resistance factions from Hezbollah Brigades and the Martyrs Brigades,” considering the targeting as “a blatant transgression against the sovereignty of Iraq and Iraqis.”
Aliwi called on the Iraqi government to “file a complaint with the United Nations Security Council against the United States of America for its continued killing Iraqis,” noting that “until now we have not received accurate statistics on the number of martyrs and wounded due to the American strike, on the Iraqi-Syrian border.”
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced earlier on Thursday, that the number of people killed in the ranks of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces, who died during air strikes in Albukamal area in western Syria near the Iraqi border raised to 26.
According to Al-Hadath TV, which quoted the observatory, a bombing carried out by the international coalition in response to the bombing of the Taji camp killed 18 people from the Iraqi Shiite factions loyal to Iran, and wounded 30 others.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced on Thursday that the number of people killed in the ranks of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) who were killed during air strikes in Albukamal area in western Syria near the Iraqi border has increased to 26.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the strike that targeted the Iraqi-Syrian borders left 18 killed of the Shiite factions in Iraq loyal to Iran.
According to Al-Hadath TV, which quoted the observatory, a strike carried out by the international coalition in response to al-Taji camp attack killed 18 people of the Iraqi Shiite factions loyal to Iran.
He added that the strike also wounded 30 others.
Al-Hadath TV reported that among the wounded, the leader of the “Iraqi Haideriyoun” Brigade, Wissam Tufayli, who is in a critical condition.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights previously stated that “three unidentified aircraft” launched strikes on Imam Ali base and Al-Hassyan area in Albukamal near the border with Iraq, where headquarters and factions loyal to Iran are stationed.
The strike came after the killing of two American and a British soldier from the international coalition forces, in addition to the injury of 12 others, by strikes by Katyusha rockets on the Iraqi Taji camp, north of the capital, Baghdad, where American forces are present.
