Spanish Prime Minister Calls For Global Ban on Arms Sales to “Israel”
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez called on the international community Friday to cease arms sales to “Israel”.
In a public statement, Sánchez criticized the Israeli Occupation Forces’ (IOF) actions, saying, “Let me at this moment criticize and condemn the attacks carried out by the Israeli armed forces on the UN mission in Lebanon.”
Spain’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that no Spanish soldiers were injured in the incidents.
Sánchez also highlighted that Spain stopped selling weapons to “Israel” in October 2023 and urged other nations to follow suit.
Spain currently has 650 soldiers stationed in Lebanon as part of the UN peacekeeping mission, which is led by a Spanish general.
“I believe that, given what is happening in the Middle East, it is necessary for the international community to stop exporting weapons to the Israeli government,” he said.
