There is no dialogue between Parliament and al-Sarraj government, as it is illegal
The Speaker of the Libyan Parliament, Aqeela Saleh, said that the Cairo initiative is the only solution to the crisis in Libya, stressing that the reconciliation government is not a party to the dialogue, but rather the Supreme State Council.
Saleh’s statements to the Russian “Sputnik” came on the sidelines of his visit to Moscow, on Friday, where he held talks with senior Russian officials.
Saleh questioned the legal status of the al-Sarraj government, as it “did not win the confidence of Parliament,” as he put it, stressing that “there will be no dialogue between the parliament and the al-Sarraj government as it is illegal.”
Saleh pointed out that the number of mercenaries that Turkey brought to Libya was 14,000.
Saleh expressed his reproach to the United Nations for the delay in nominating Khalaf for the UN envoy to Libya, al-Sarraj government.
Saleh revealed that during this period he will make several visits and during the next two days to Geneva, Rome, Algeria and to several countries.
During his meeting with Aqila Saleh in Moscow on Friday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that His country supports Saleh’s cease-fire initiative in LibyaAnd that the “Cairo Initiative” is in line with the decisions of the international conference on Libya in Berlin, and it may form the basis for Libyan discussions on the implementation of the Speaker initiative.
For his part, Aqila Saleh expressed his conviction of the failure of the Fayez al-Sarraj government to carry out the tasks for which it was formed, describing it as illegal because it was rejected by Parliament twice.
Aqeelah Saleh also held talks with Valentina Matviyenko, President of the Council of the Russian Federation, during which he reviewed developments in the situation in Libya and the need to stop the fighting and start political dialogue.
