Three different News Stories about The Liquidation of “Foreign Mercenaries” Fighting for Ukraine
Russia’s largest news agency, TASS, which is directly controlled by the Moscow government, published three different news items on Thursday in a matter of 8 minutes on the liquidation of “foreign mercenaries” fighting for Ukraine.
It is eloquent evidence of Russian propaganda regarding the invasion of Ukraine and the participation of foreign volunteers in the fight against the Russian army.
The first news item was published at 11:39 a.m. Moscow time, and is entitled “The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has announced that the influx of foreign mercenaries into Ukraine has diminished since the beginning of May.” It quoted the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov.
“We note that since the beginning of May, the influx of foreign mercenaries into Ukraine to take part in hostilities against the Russian armed forces has practically dried up. According to the data available to us, today the total number of foreign mercenaries in Ukraine is almost halved – from 6.6 to 3.5 thousand people “, said Konaschenkov.
At 11:43 a.m. Moscow time, TASS published a new story: “Russian Ministry of Defense: Hundreds of foreign mercenaries in Ukraine were destroyed by high-precision weapons,” according to General Konaschenkov’s daily communication.
“Hundreds of foreign mercenaries from Ukraine were destroyed by long-range Russian precision weapons shortly after their arrival at the places where additional training and coordination of tactical units followed,” Konasenkov said.
At the same time, most of the mercenaries, according to the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, were destroyed in the battle zone, due to the low level of training and the lack of real combat experience.
“Faced with a real fighting situation and heavy casualties among the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard and foreigners, a significant number of mercenaries prefer to leave the territory of Ukraine as soon as possible, but the Kyiv regime in every possible way prevents them from going abroad, “Konashenkov said.
At 11:47 a.m., a third piece of news related to what the Russians call “foreign mercenaries” appeared on the agency’s website, referring to foreigners fighting voluntarily in the Kyiv International Legion: “Russian Ministry of Defense: a significant number of mercenaries prefer to leave the territory of Ukraine as soon as possible. ” The headline was later changed after 15 minutes: “Russian Ministry of Defense: Kiev prevents foreign mercenaries who want to leave Ukraine”.
