Tunisia rejects Morocco’s application to receive Polisario leader
Tunisia decided to recall its ambassador to Rabat for consultations, expressing its “categorical rejection” of the Moroccan statement’s “phrases accusing our country of being aggressive towards Morocco and damaging Moroccan interests.”
In a statement released by the Tunisian African News Agency, the Tunisian FM confirmed its “refusal to interfere in its internal affairs and the sovereignty of its national decision. On this basis, Tunisia has decided to immediately invite its ambassador to Rabat for consultation.”
The statement added that “Tunisia is following all procedures for organizing the TICAD 8 Symposium in accordance with African legal regulations regarding the organization of summits, conferences and partner meetings”, adding that “the African Union has invited all its members to participate in the summit TICAD”, noting that “The Republic of Saharawi previously stated that I participated in the 6th session of TICAD held in Nairobi (Kenya) in 2016 and the 7th session in Yokohama (Japan) in 2019, in addition to participating in other regional meetings in which Morocco has participated,” the statement said.
