Tunisian judicial opens Investigation in the case of “secret apparatus of Brotherhood Ennahda”
the Tunisian judicial authorities decided to open an investigation into the secret apparatus of the Brotherhood “Ennahda” movement, accused of involvement in the assassination of political opponents Chokri Belaid and Mohamed Brahmi in 2013, and of spying and penetrating Tunisian state institutions.
Tunisian Radio “Mosaique” reported that the Minister of Justice, Leila Jaffal, authorized the attorney general of the Court of Appeal in Tunis to entrust the Republic’s agency at the Court of First Instance in Tunis to open the necessary investigations regarding what was known as the “secret apparatus” of the Ennahda movement.
Jaffal added that the decision came following a complaint submitted to the Minister of Justice in her capacity as head of the Public Prosecution Service by a member of the defense team in the cases of Chokri Belaid and Mohamed Brahmi, against a number of people for crimes related to state security.
The Minister of Justice’s decision came after Tunisian President Kais Saied criticized the judiciary, which accused him of acquitting people who were found guilty, and of neglecting some sensitive files.
